- Build their organization’s pipeline for diverse legal talent
- Enhance their summer program with opportunities provided through LCLD’s 1L Scholars Summit
- Demonstrate their commitment to DEI to clients or outside counsel
- Strengthen their relationship with clients or outside counsel through a 1L Scholars Partnership
How to Hire a 1L Scholar.
Every LCLD Member organization is invited to select one or more 1L Scholars to participate in a summer internship at their organization and attend a summit designed specifically for 1L Scholars.
ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION PROCESS
Register Your Organization
LCLD Member organizations who plan to host 2024 1L Scholars may begin to register in Fall 2023.
Submit Your Job Description
Once you have registered to host 1L Scholars, you may submit job descriptions. LCLD will host a hyperlinked page of available opportunities and market the program to first-year law students beginning in Winter 2023.
Hire Your Scholar
1L Scholar candidates must apply directly to summer internships at the LCLD Member organization(s) of their choice. The application period begins in Winter 2023. Each Member will independently identify, select, and hire its respective 1L Scholars. Candidates must be enrolled as first-year law students and in good standing at an ABA-approved law school.
Enroll Your Scholar
LCLD Member organizations should enroll Scholar(s) with LCLD by Spring 2024. Once enrolled, Scholars are responsible for registering themselves for the 1L LCLD Scholars Virtual Summit. Details about the 2024 Summit are forthcoming.
