While Scholars enrich their budding careers, participating Members turn their pledge commitments into action. By hosting 1L Scholars, law firms and legal departments can:
- Build their organization’s pipeline for diverse legal talent
- Enhance their summer program with opportunities provided through LCLD’s 1L Scholars Virtual Experience
- Demonstrate their commitment to DEI to clients or outside counsel
- Strengthen their relationship with clients or outside counsel through a 1L Scholars Partnership

How to Hire a 1L Scholar.
Every LCLD Member organization is invited to select one or more 1L Scholars to participate in a summer internship at their organization and a Virtual Experience designed specifically for 1L Scholars.

Submit Your Job Description
LCLD Member organizations who would like to share their 2025 1L Scholars opportunity on LCLD's website may begin to submit their descriptions on November 12, 2024. LCLD will share submitted opportunities on the website beginning in December 2024.

Hire Your Scholar
1L Scholar candidates must apply directly to summer opportunities at the LCLD Member organization(s) of their choice. Each Member organization will independently identify, select, and hire its respective 1L Scholars. Candidates must be enrolled as first-year law students and in good standing at an ABA-approved law school.

Enroll Your Scholar
LCLD Member organizations should enroll Scholar(s) with LCLD by April 4, 2025. Once enrolled, Scholars are responsible for registering themselves for the 1L LCLD Scholars Virtual Experience.
