Personal Commitment

At Hogan Lovells, being ambitious, innovative, responsible, committed and supportive are the qualities that drive our behaviors in all that we do, and that includes our actions to improve diversity and inclusion.

Accordingly I, Miguel A. Zaldivar, personally commit to the following:

  • Actively sponsor women, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ and differently abled lawyers through our Americas Diversity Committee Sponsorship Program and support their career advancement through advocacy, mentorship and the facilitation of professional development opportunities.
  • Co-sponsor a Latino Law Student Career Fair with other Big Law Latino leaders.
  • Advocate for our underrepresented lawyers and continue having open dialogues on the specific forms of racism, biases, and stereotypes that they experience in order to raise awareness, educate, and become better allies.

Organizational Commitment

As a firm, we pledge to:

  • We will hold ourselves accountable by establishing ambitious metrics, directing our efforts to uplift the achievements of our underrepresented colleagues, and consciously educating our people on the topics of diversity & inclusion to become better allies.
  • We will focus on institutional change internally by implementing an equitable allocation process that drives work and pitch opportunities to our underrepresented lawyers.
  • We will place an equity lens on key processes to retain, develop and advance our underrepresented colleagues.
  • Take a holistic approach to recruiting diverse talent at all levels, including briefing our recruiters on our expectations for diverse candidate slates and reviewing and enhancing recruiting and lateral integration processes, target schools, and recruiting platforms to attract and support underrepresented colleagues.
  • We will partner with our clients through diversity and inclusion forums and other personalized programs that aid in the development of cultural competency.
  • We will continue collaborating and consulting with clients through our justice, equity, diversity and inclusion practice.
  • Through our Advancing Racial Justice commitment, we will devote at least 65,000 pro bono hours through 2023 dedicated to breaking down the entrenched, systemic barriers in society that profoundly impact people of color with a particular focus in the key areas of criminal justice, housing and economic justice, and voting rights. Continue reviewing practices, policies, procedures, and programs in place to make sure they are equitable and inclusive for all.
  • We commit to global diversity and inclusion goals for racial and ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ partners, specifically 15% minority partners and 4% LGBTQ+ partners by 2025. Global minority and LGBTQ+ goals comprised the U.S. and UK only owing to legal restrictions.
