I, Benjamin Bailey, personally commit to the following:


Personal Commitment

  • I will use my voice and position as founding partner of my law firm to advance the goals of increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in the firm, in the profession and in the communities where we work.
  • I have and will use my position in the firm to ensure that DEI goals and concerns are an integral part of all of our hiring, marketing, training and administrative processes, not only for lawyers but for all of our employees.
  • I will personally participate in the West Virginia chapter of LCLD and its annual meetings at West Virginia University’s law school.
  • I will make sure that our lawyers participating in LCLD’s Fellows and Pathfinder programs are supported in those efforts, and that their experiences are shared with the rest of their colleagues at the firm.

Organizational Commitment

  • Our firm completed our initial Mansfield Certification Program and will continue it into this coming year.
  • We will continue to measure, and improve, the diversity of our candidates for summer hiring, for recruiting out of law school, for lateral hiring of more senior associates or partners and for internal partnership and other promotion decisions.
  • The firm will support two candidates for the Fellows and Pathfinder programs. The firm will also support the work of our Diversity Committee, elevating the importance of DEI in the firm and in the communities where we live and work.
  • The firm will participate in the recruiting and mentorship processes being developed in conjunction with West Virginia University’s law school, in whatever form and format works best for the firm and the participants.
