LCLD 1L Diversity Summer Associate – Vanderbilt

Nashville , Tennessee

Megan Lundry

The Program

Vanderbilt University and Husch Blackwell LLP believe that a culture of inclusivity and openness enhances our commitment to serve our clients, professions, and community by building a workforce of people with varied backgrounds. This appreciation of individual differences is why we are partnering with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 1L Scholars program to offer an opportunity for a first-year law student with a background or interest in Labor & Employment or Commercial Litigation to work with both Vanderbilt University’s Office of the General Counsel and Husch Blackwell LLP for the summer of 2025.

The selected student will participate in a ten-week clerkship, spending six weeks at Husch Blackwell LLP in Kansas City or Nashville and four weeks with Vanderbilt in Nashville. The student will receive challenging responsibilities and exciting projects, working alongside partners, associates and in-house counsel. Projects will include, but are not limited to, contributing to trials, negotiation of business transactions and taking part in client conferences.

Along with the day-to-day work assignments, the selected candidate will also be invited to virtually attend programming specifically for LCLD 1L Scholars and other summer internship networking and development events hosted by Husch Blackwell LLP and Vanderbilt. The student will have a mentor at Husch Blackwell LLP and a mentor at Vanderbilt to offer support and guidance.
