The Program
Honeywell and Husch Blackwell LLP believe that a culture of inclusivity and openness enhances our commitment to serve our clients, professions, and community by building a workforce of people with varied backgrounds. This appreciation of individual differences is why we are partnering with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 1L Scholars program to offer an opportunity for a first-year law student to work with both Honeywell and Husch Blackwell LLP for the summer of 2025.
The selected student will participate in a ten-week clerkship in Chicago, Illinois, spending six weeks at Husch Blackwell LLP and four weeks at Honeywell (Des Plaines, IL campus). The student will receive challenging responsibilities and exciting projects working alongside partners, associates and in-house counsel. Projects will include, but are not limited to, contributing to the negotiation of business transactions, taking part in client conferences, engaging in pro bono work, supporting business line counsel, and experiencing intellectual property law from the enterprise perspective.
Along with the day-to-day work assignments, the selected candidate will also be invited to virtually attend programming specifically for LCLD 1L Scholars and other summer internship networking and development events hosted by Husch Blackwell LLP and Honeywell. The student will have a mentor at Husch Blackwell LLP to offer support and guidance.
