LCLD 1L Diversity Summer Associate – American Water

St. Louis, Missouri

Megan Lundry

The Program

American Water and Husch Blackwell LLP believe that a culture of inclusivity and openness enhances our commitment to serve our clients, professions, and community by building a workforce of people with varied backgrounds. We recruit, select and retain qualified employees who represent all segments of the communities we serve and support. We cultivate a highly talented workforce by valuing people for who they are and what they can contribute. This appreciation of individual differences is why we are partnering with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 1L Scholars program to offer an opportunity for a first-year law student to work with both American Water and Husch Blackwell LLP for the summer of 2025.

The selected student will participate in a ten-week clerkship in Saint Louis, Missouri, spending six weeks at Husch Blackwell LLP and four weeks at American Water. The student will receive challenging responsibilities and exciting projects, working alongside partners, associates and in-house counsel. Projects will include, but are not limited to, contributing to trials, negotiation of business transactions and taking part in client conferences.

Along with the day-to-day work assignments, the selected candidate will also be invited to virtually attend programming specifically for LCLD 1L Scholars and other summer internship networking and development events hosted by Husch Blackwell LLP and American Water. The student will have an associate mentor at Husch Blackwell LLP to offer support and guidance.
