Houston Community | Privacy & Cybersecurity CLE

Houston LCLD Community, please join us at BakerHostetler’s office in downtown Houston for your lunch hour on May 14th as Erika Vela and Pierce Cox, attorneys from BakerHostetler Digital Assets and Data Management (DADM) Practice Group, lead a discussion on Privacy and Cybersecurity. This presentation will discuss current trends in privacy law and organizational cybersecurity and will outline key contractual considerations related to security incidents. We will discuss frameworks for evaluating and managing third-party cybersecurity risks, as well as data incident preparedness and response. We will also discuss how to offer recourse to the contractual parties in case of a breach. Attendees will also learn of recent activity in state comprehensive privacy statutes (including the latest Texas laws that became effective in July 2024). By the end of the presentation, attendees will learn about IT system vulnerabilities based on studies of past cyberattacks, how to enhance their company’s cybersecurity posture to safeguard data and mitigate security risks, and the latest developments in Texas relating to data privacy and protection.
